What’s a Shred Day?

INB routinely offers Shred Day events as a free service to the entire community. Why? Keeping personal, identifying information safe is crucial – and a shred event helps you dispose of documents in a secure way.

By shredding papers like statements, receipts, or mailing labels with your address, you can reduce the risk of identity theft and protect your private information.

For most of our shred events, INB partners with Affordable Shred, a document destruction company headquartered in Springfield. Affordable Shred is AAA-certified by the National Association of Information Destruction and maintains compliance with the highest industry expectations and ethical standards.

What can I bring to a Shred Day?

1. Paper only please! But you don’t need to worry about staples, paperclips, binder clips, rubber bands, envelopes, or folders – we can handle all of that.
2. No more than 5 bags or boxes per car. Our shred days are popular, and we want to service everyone who comes.
3. An optional donation. While the event is free, donations are always encouraged to benefit a local nonprofit. At each Shred Day, INB chooses a different charitable organization to receive the donations given.

In the fall of 2019 alone, attendees of our shred events donated more than $6,000 to community causes, while safely destroying confidential documents they no longer needed! Over the years, we’ve helped to contribute to local charities like the Mini O’Beirne Crisis Nursery, Chatham food pantry, Heartland Mini Hoofs, and many more.

What can I expect at a Shred Day event?

• Please stay in your car. When you arrive, just pull into the line – we’ll handle the heavy lifting.
• Our team will unload your boxes and give them back to you.
• The shredding happens right on-site in the truck, where documents are cross-cut, torn, and pierced for complete destruction.

· Get organized beforehand: remove non-paper items before you arrive.

· Bring a donation if you choose: an easy way to give back while protecting your identity. Cash and checks are accepted.

· Enjoy the convenience: you don’t need to get out of your car or lift anything – we take care of it all!
