INB is honored to award $500 to seniors Colt Selinger and Brandy Petitt, both named Student of the Year by their schools.

Colt Selinger attended Mount Pulaski High School. During his time at MPHS Colt has been a part of:

Colt has been on the Straight A honor roll every semester of high school. He also was named an Illinois State Scholar for the class of 2024. He has also been named as the English 1, Health, Algebra 2, Woodworking, and Chemistry student of the year. In 9th grade he placed 1st in the IDEA Regional Competition for Drafting and was the Scary Story winner in English 1. In 2023 he was an invited scholar to the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security, Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Defense.

Colt participated in numerous community service projects as well. He has collected canned goods, helped with Christmas on Vinegar Hill, supervised the bounce house at Fall Fest, tutored students at MPHS before finals, babysat for Parents’ Night Out, and helped at the Diamond Willow Ministry on a Lakota Reservation in South Dakota.

Colt plans to attend college in the fall and obtain a degree in Engineering.

Brandy Petitt attended Riverton High School. During her time at RHS Brandy has been apart of,

Brandy has been presented numerous awards as well. She has received the 2nd Team All-Conference award twice. She also earned the 3rd Team All-Conference and Sangamo Academic All-Conference award once. Brandy was awarded the Service Award, Spanish Award, Scholar Athlete, Pleasant Plains Player of the Game, and County Tournament Team.

During her time at Riverton, Brandy was involved with community service acts including the Special Olympics Camp, Riverton Basketball Camps, Community Clean Up, and multiple community service projects. During high school, she did over 100 hours of community service.

Brandy plans to attend Illinois Wesleyan University and major in biology for pre-med. She also plans on participating in track and field.
