To Karyssa Pedersen, everything is “figureoutable.”
That’s the mentality she operates with at INB, and the attitude she strives to share with the teller team she supervises.
“I really try to have an open mindset and remember there is a solution to everything,” she says.
And because of Karyssa’s hard work and problem-solving, she was recently promoted to Assistant Branch Manager/Branch Management Trainee of the Wabash Branch!
College Followed by INB
Karyssa joined INB in July 2020 as a teller at our Main Branch after receiving her bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration and finance from MacMurray College. She quickly showed initiative for more responsibility, so in early 2022, she relocated to our Wabash Branch to give her more opportunity and exposure into all aspects of retail banking.
In September, 2022, she was promoted to Branch Operations Supervisor, excelling in this position involving both an operational and sales focus.
“The past 2.5 years here at INB has been nothing short of amazing. I love the work environment, my coworkers, customers and the job itself,” Karyssa says. “I knew that starting out as a teller, there were many different paths I could take to advance my career. That’s what I really liked coming into INB, the opportunity to grow and excel within.”
Banking Always Part of the Plan
Karyssa has known since she was young that she wanted to work in a bank and spend her career with numbers.
“My grandparents even bought me a toy ATM to keep my extra change when I was little. I thought that was the best gift ever!” she laughs.
Helping her customers find the ideal financial products or services to best suit their unique needs is what Karyssa loves most.
“I really enjoy and value the relationships I am able to build here with new and existing customers,” she says. “Additionally, I really enjoy managing the teller line, serving as a mentor and educating them on banking, customer service and teamwork.”
Relationships are important to Karyssa outside of work, too – both her family and her community.
On the weekends, she loves to take part in community events with her boyfriend Austen and 1-year-old son, Maddox. “We also really enjoy being outside, attending sporting events (GO KANSAS CITY CHIEFS!), and spending time with our families near and far,” she says.
When Karyssa is ready for a break, she dives into a good book – recently, Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reed – or loves getting to the Great Smoky Mountains, especially in the fall.
When it comes to her promotion and her future path at INB, Karyssa has one word: “grateful.”
“I am very grateful that my mentors see the potential in my work ethic to excel and grow in this new role,” she says. “I look forward to taking on more tasks, learning the ropes of management, and growing professionally here at INB.”
