Mackenzy Payne, Riverton High School senior of the monthMackenzy Payne hopes one day to be a school principal and future superintendent. To accomplish those goals, she plans to double major in education and math at Illinois College with a concentration in middle grade and complete her master’s degree. Mackenzy is an exemplary student achieving superior honor roll, Illinois State Scholar, Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen award, National Honor Society and most recently named senior of the month for October.

She’s also the leader of Hawk Pride and member of the student council, Thespians, leadership team, musical, fall play and an elementary classroom aide. Mackenzy plays varsity softball, basketball and volleyball. She earned the SJR All-Area softball team award. She plans to play softball for Illinois College next year.

Mackenzy, daughter of Jason and Ginger Payne, was chosen by faculty and staff based on attendance, academics, effort, conduct, cooperation, dependability, leadership, school involvement, and service to others.

She will receive $50 from INB and will eligible for 2018-19 Student of the Year honors at graduation.
