Michael Shereda has many talents, but plans to use his foreign language skills in college and in his career. “I plan to attend Illinois College in the fall,” he says. “I plan to major in International Studies, Spanish and, possibly, German.”
With those goals ahead, it’s no surprise he was named March Student of the Month at Riverton High School. He’s already an Illinois State Scholar, member of the National Honor Society, and a three-year member of the All-State Scholastic Bowl team.
In Michael’s spare time he takes part in the school’s Scholastic Bowl team and Spanish Club. He also enjoys music and sings with the school’s Concert Choir, Jazz Choir, Madrigals, and Chamber Choir. He also takes part in school plays. He performed in the fall play, “Rumors,” and last spring’s musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
The Riverton High School Student of the Month Award is sponsored by Illinois National Bank (INB). Michael was chosen for the award by the staff and faculty of RHS based on attendance, academics, effort, conduct, cooperation, dependability, leadership, school involvement, and service to others. He will receive $25 from INB and will be eligible for 2014-2015 Student of the Year honors at graduation. Member FDIC. Equal Housing Lender. NMLS #477621.
