Kamryn Aylesworth, May Senior of the Month at Mount Pulaski High School, spends much of her free time with horses. She enjoys them so much, she plans to attend Blackhawk East College in Galva, Ill. before transferring to Southern Illinois University – Carbondale to study equine science/horse science technology and vet tech.
Kamryn’s love of horses is exemplified in her activities outside of school. She’s a Little Galilee Equine Camp Counselor. She has also been named Central Illinois Saddle Club High Point Champion, Decatur Trail Riders Club High Point Champion, Decatur Trail Riders Club Reserve Champion, and Shelby County Silver Spurs Buckle Show Champion. Kamryn is very involved in 4-H as well. She is a 4-H Hippology 1st Regional/State Qualifier, 4-H Horse Bowl Team 1st regional/state qualifier, earned a 4-H record book award, and 4-H citizen scientist, just to name a few of her accomplishments. She is a member of the Mount Pulaski’s Christian Church Youth Group.
Her school time is equally busy. For the past four years she has been a member of Student Council, Track, Drama Club, Concert/Pep Band, and Spirit Squad. She was also involved in cheerleading for two years, and is also a member of the prom and yearbook committees. She is serving as the senior class secretary and a leader for the Legacy Groups at MPHS as well as Chapter Secretary for FFA.
Kamryn was selected for the Senior of the Month honor based on the criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The award is sponsored by Johnson’s Food Center and Johnson True Value Hardware. Monthly award winners receive a $50 award paid to the college they plan to attend. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior of the Year Award sponsored by INB.
