INB’s Pleasant Plains branch has served as a drop off point for the Pleasant Plains Food Pantry for more than 10 years. At the end of each summer, the pantry asks for back-to-school supplies. And thanks in large part to a local church, the pantry was able to support families with food AND back to school supplies.
Lisa Riser, the pantry’s organizer, says about 40 families are provided food from 7 to 10 a.m. the second Saturday of every month at the Pleasant Plains Community Club. Most of the families have children, so when they arrive for their August food bags, they are thrilled to also receive school supplies.
Lisa also runs the Angel Tree that is set up each holiday season in our Pleasant Plains’ lobby. She says, “We couldn’t run the Pantry without our generous community!”
