TJ Benhart says he’s blessed to have wonderful people and experiences in his life. Based on his profile, he’s spent his high school years meeting people and creating those experiences. Because of his scholarship, leadership, service, and character, TJ, son of Jason and Kelley Benhart of Mt. Pulaski, has been named October Senior of the Month at Mount Pulaski High School (MPHS).
For the last four years, TJ he has been a member of the soccer team, scholastic bowl, track team, student council, and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) in which he is now serving as chapter president. He’s also been part of the pep band, marching band, drama club, Spanish Club, and Choir Club. For the last two years, he’s been a member of the National Honor Society, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, and Science Olympiad. He’s also served on the Prom Committee.
Awards TJ has earned include being named Student of the Year in World Geography and Spanish 3. As a member of the FCCLA Parliamentary Procedure Team, he and his team earned a gold medal the last two years at the state competition and a Gold and Silver at the national level. Outside of school, TJ is one step away from earning Eagle Scout rank.
When he graduates, TJ would like to study engineering, focusing on audio technologies.
The Senior of the Month Program is sponsored by Johnson True Value Hardware. Monthly award winners receive a $50 award paid to the college they plan to attend. They are also in the running for the $500 Senior of the Year Award sponsored by INB.
