Everyone has their own measure of success, but in the sports world, the score’s usually the thing, and the higher is usually the better. That thought rings true when it comes to Touchdowns for the Table, a program that brings a commitment from INB to donate $1 for every point scored at local high school football games broadcast on Sports Radio 1450 or 96.7 The Boss.
Last year, INB donated $1,872 to charities that feed the hungry year-round, but have a special mission each holiday season. Our total donation was evenly split between Friend-in-Deed, St. Martin dePorres and Kid’s Café. Since 2014, these three charities have shared over $5,682 from INB.
During week 1 of the 2017 high school football season, three broadcast games scored 197 points. That’s $197 that’s already in the hopper, waiting to be included in our final donation check.
The Charities
- Friend-in-Deed, provides food at Christmas for needy families in the Springfield area.
- Kids Café, a partnership between the Springfield Urban League and the Central Illinois Foodbank, feeds 75-100 children each day.
- St. Martin de Porres’ mission is to serve the needy with dignity. The agency provides food to over 140 families each day it is open.
