INB President and CEO Sarah Phalen has been appointed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker to serve on the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. As of Feb. 10, the appointment is pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate.
Sarah has had a number of positions at INB, previously Illinois National Bank, since playing a key role in the bank’s founding in 1999. She managed the retail branches, residential mortgage, marketing and held a variety of administration positions in the early years of INB.
She was named president and CEO in January 2011, serves on the INB Board of Directors, and is secretary of the INB Bancorp.
Before joining INB, Sarah was vice president of cash management at National City, and a credit officer at First National Bank. In her civic life, she is the board treasurer for the Land of Lincoln Economic Development Council and a board member at the Vision of Hope Foundation. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Master of Business Administration from University of Illinois at Springfield.
In a news release announcing the pending appointment, Pritzker said he is “building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields.”
