Erika Lucas,
AVP, Assistant General Counsel (South Florida)
A native of Connecticut, Erika Lucas attended law school in Washington D.C. and Madrid, Spain, receiving a dual degree in 2008: a JD from American University and Licencia en Derecho from Alfonso X El Sabio.
Today, Erika serves as AVP, Assistant General Counsel for INB, based in the South Florida region. While INB is her first legal role for a bank, her connection to banking began early on – she worked as a teller in college!
As an attorney, Erika brings extensive experience working with financial institutions in various capacities, helping clients with complex financial matters as an M&A attorney at a law firm and later as general counsel at a media and production company. After 10 years providing general corporate counsel in-house, she decided it would be a nice change to focus on a niche specialty like banking.
“I really love the friendly and collaborative environment at INB,” Erika says. “I’m very happy to work with the legal team here, which was such a support to me as I transitioned into banking.”
Erika is dedicated to her community in Miami, especially through her longstanding involvement with the nonprofit Educate Tomorrow. She served as a board member for more than a decade and continues to support its mission of empowering foster and unhoused youth in Miami through mentoring, college and career counseling, financial assistance, and many other life skills and enrichment programs.
On weekends and evenings, much of Erika’s time is spent supporting her two active children. “I’m either watching a dance show, a tennis match, a theater performance or driving the kids to rehearsals and practices!” she says. She also loves to travel when she can, especially to Spain where her husband’s family lives.
