What was your very first job?
I had 2 paycheck jobs at the same time. I worked for a local farmer one summer, walking beans. I didn’t like that. It was very hot that summer, but short lived, thank God! I worked at the “Dairy Bar” in Mt. Pulaski all through high school and part-time after I graduated to help the owner out when she wasn’t available. I loved the Dairy Bar. I worked with school friends and we were having the best time of our lives, so we thought!
What’s your favorite way to spend a long weekend?
Going to our hunting property in Rushville. My husband has made this a great place for me to go and unplug, and enjoy nature and just relax. This is where I get to read a book and not have to worry about laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. There is lots of wildlife: turkeys, deer, quail, raccoons, possums, ground hogs, bobcats, coyotes, lots of birds, and then there are the ones I don’t really care for—snakes, ticks, spiders. Very peaceful. I was never a hunter until about 4 years ago. He purchased a cross bow for me and then he built me 2 enclosed blinds that have windows, heat, carpet, all the amenities a girl might need. New this past year is a tiny home that he has built and is almost completed. We are really going to enjoy that when it is finally 100% done.
Kari Saling, AVP, Loan Administration
If you had to choose something you had to eat every single day for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Pasta, I love pasta.
What’s your favorite way to spend a long weekend?
Doing anything with my family; having one son away at college now, it makes the time we spend together more valuable.
Jenni Snow, AVP, Human Resources
If you could take an unlimited, all-expenses-paid vacation, where would you go and why?
I would go to Hawaii. It’s a place I have always wanted to travel to. It is such a beautiful place from all the pictures I’ve seen, from the beaches and waterfalls to the beautiful flowers and perfect weather year-round.
What was your very first job?
My first job was at Knight’s Action Park. I loved working there. It was my first experience working with money as a cashier. I would get to see a lot of my friends while I was working, and would also get to swim for free on my days off. It was the best summer job for a 15-year-old.
Natalie Cain, AVP, Branch Manager
What’s your favorite lunch spot near work and why?
I love Chaditos. They serve a variety of Mexican dishes. The food is fresh and quick. They serve fish tacos on M-W-F, that’s my favorite.
What was your very first job?
My first job was at Springfield Christian School when I was 15. Every day after school, I went there to essentially babysit the kids until their parents came to pick them up. It was a great way for me to learn responsibility. Then for two summers, I did the summer camp program. It was a lot of fun. We went on field trips a few times a week and it was neat learning about the kids.
What job did you want to have when you were a kid, and why?
Marine Biologist, because I love animals.
