When Sean Banigan became a mortgage processor in March 2020, the world was changing quickly.

As the COVID-19 pandemic caused uncertainty for many industries, including banking, Sean navigated the chaos with determination. His ability to adapt and excel during this season stood out to his supervisor, earning him a promotion to mortgage loan officer just 18 months later.
Sean is now bringing that drive and industry knowledge to INB’s Mortgage Team, as he steps into his new role of AVP, Mortgage Loan Officer for INB Bloomington!
“I was attracted to INB by the growing community bank culture and the people,” Sean says. “I am really looking forward to evolving with INB and helping people achieve their financial goals through education and personal service.”
Originally from the Champaign area, Sean moved to Collinsville as a teenager and graduated high school there. However, he decided to move back to Champaign at age 19 to start working.
Sean has always thrived in customer-facing roles. He worked for Schnucks for four years before joining the banking industry as a teller for Busey Bank. His talent for building relationships quickly led him to a personal banker position, where he spent six years before transitioning to the mortgage team.
“With years of retail banking and lending experience, I’m passionate about helping clients find the best possible mortgage solutions for their unique financial needs,” he shares. “I’ve had the pleasure of forming many long-lasting relationships with associates and clients alike here in Central Illinois.”
Outside of work, Sean loves spending time with his wife Shireen, their dog Eva, and friends, especially enjoying local restaurants like Medici, Destihl, and Jason’s Deli. His hobbies are a nice blend of active and passive – whether playing pickleball regularly and enjoying outdoor activities, or settling in to stream a good show or movie.
“My wife and I also really enjoy traveling!” he adds. “We have been to Mexico, Jamaica, and all over the U.S.”
Community philanthropy is also important to Sean, as he enjoys volunteering his time at Midwest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and bank-associated volunteer events as often as possible.
In his new role, he’s looking forward to continuing to serve Central Illinois families as both a lender and a partner in their path to homeownership.
“I strive to provide outstanding personalized service to each of my clients to ensure a smooth, informative, and successful mortgage loan experience from start to finish,” Sean says. “I truly enjoy educating and serving borrowers, and I’m eager to help turn dreams of home buying or building into reality.”
Welcome to INB Bloomington, Sean!
