Robert “Bob” Powell has served as an official football referee for a number of years, officiating at all levels of high school, college and pro football.
Making tough calls is part of the game – but it translates well to his career path, too.
As a financial professional with leadership experience in sales and operations management for businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to local organizations, Bob needs to be discerning and decisive about strategic planning, credit management, regulatory compliance and much more.
Bob grew up in the northeast United States, primarily in Maryland. He received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Troy University in Alabama. He furthered his education at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL, by earning 20 MBA credit hours and completed additional professional development at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business.
After college, he moved to New Orleans where he met his wife and lived for nine years. Both of his daughters were born in Louisiana.
Lending Business a Touchdown
Although his education and career have taken him all over the country and in various industries, Bob has always done some type of lending. After college, he started working with auto lending and floorplan lending at Ford Credit before he then joined ITT/Deutsche Bank and ran one of their ABL/Floorplan offices.
Most recently, Bob decided to join INB after getting a phone call from Gaby Cioli, SVP, South Florida Market President for INB.
“I enjoyed working with Gaby at another financial institution, and when she called about the opportunity, I knew her enthusiasm was genuine,” he shares.
At INB, Bob will foster new commercial relationships in the South Florida market as VP, Commercial Banker. He’s looking forward to serving INB’s newest market in Florida and expanding on the customer service INB is known for.
Community Service Part of the Playbook
In addition to extensive lending experience, Bob has a long history of community service.
“In the past, I have been on the board of the Berwyn Development Corp and the PAV YMCA in Illinois and have been active in the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, the economic development organization here in Broward County,” he says.
In his spare time, you’ll find him on the water, boating with his wife, or spending time with his family – his grown daughters and twin grandsons.
INB is excited to welcome Bob into our bank community.
“I look forward to being on the team and building a strong customer base here in South Florida,” he says.
