They probably should call it a bragging right game, because we definitely plan to earn the right to brag. Brag about bringing in the most blood donors among area banks, that is.
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center calls it the Battle of the Banks. On Wed., Feb. 19, customers and employees can help INB earn the center’s traveling trophy by donating in INB’s name. Simply show up at the Blood Center and let them know you’re on Team INB so we get credit for your donation plus receive a Barnaby plush toy and t-shirt.
Peoria Team Gives All They Have
INB’s Peoria staff is small in numbers, but they’re hearts are big when it comes to blood donation. Mortgage Lender Stacy Borho has even been featured Peoria Donor Center because of her efforts. She’s highlighted on one of their posters. Asked why she gives, Stacy says, “I give blood because it is a quick easy way to impact multiple people’s lives.” She adds that it’s something she does with her father, calling it “Father Daughter time.”
Stacy’s colleague and fellow mortgage lender, John Lofgren, has racked up 40 years of donating. “I give because it’s the right thing to do for my community. Being a O negative donor, my blood type benefits a lot more recipients.” Type O negative blood can help save any and all trauma patients, premature babies and cancer patients. While John doesn’t know the grand total of his donations, he expects he’s donated at least 15 gallons of blood.
INB has been holding on-site blood drives at its Springfield headquarters since 2009. In those years, the Blood Center says INB has collected 671 units of blood that has helped 2,013 critically ill patients. INB’s next onsite donation day is May 14. You don’t have to be an INB employee to donate, so consider taking part, then schedule your donation time.
But this is the first year INB has taken part in the Battle of the Banks. And we plan to win! Please support the cause by donating. Schedule your donation time now for Springfield or Peoria.
Or simply walk in to the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center on Feb. 19 and say you’re here to support Battle of the Banks.
