The community culture and high standards of INB were initially a big draw for Andi Whalen when she was looking for a new career move.

Now a year into her job, she’s just as impressed.

“I think it’s wonderful that INB supports what our employees are passionate about. Whether it’s a 5K, nonprofit fundraiser or a service group, we are always willing to help out,” she says.

As branch manager for the INB Bloomington branch for the last year, Andi has enjoyed cultivating that philanthropy in her employees and getting more involved herself.

Andi’s dedication to INB and the central Illinois community certainly haven’t gone unnoticed. Andi was recently promoted to Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager for INB’s Bloomington and Champaign branches.

“The best thing about my job is the team I get to be a part of. Being able to help build up the people around me is something I look forward to daily,” Andi says. “INB is a good fit because I am challenged, but also provided with the resources I need to grow.”

Andi’s Backstory

Andi, NMLS# 1801929, took on the role of branch manager for INB Bloomington in 2018, which became a second career in banking after a stint in hospitality management.

Originally from Bloomington and a graduate of Normal Community High School, Andi left for New Mexico after high school, where she worked for a credit union.

She then returned to Bloomington to manage a hotel for four years, obtaining her hotel operations certificate. She laughs that the hospitality industry “taught me a lot more than I could have asked for about customer service!” She also worked for a local credit union prior to joining INB.

When she’s not on the clock, Andi loves spending time at her RV with her dog, especially on weekends for “mini camping vacations.” Her dad owns an RV next to hers, and they often go kayaking, fishing and hiking together.

Andi also serves on the Board of the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees, and she is a frequent volunteer at the Midwest Food Bank. The holiday season is especially busy for the Jaycees, who compile Thanksgiving meals and baskets and put on a community-wide Christmas parade.

Andi’s promotion will now take her outside of Bloomington, as she helps to manage the INB Champaign branch in addition to Bloomington.

“I look forward to working with the great Champaign team, and getting to know the community there as well,” Andi says.
