Trip James, Peoria, commercial lending
Trip James NMLS #896008 speaking with a client at our Peoria 10th Anniversary party

Trip James was recently promoted to senior vice president with Illinois National Bank.

With the retirement of long-time colleague Al Covington, Trip stepped up in our Peoria market, not only working with his own clients, but adding Al’s relationships to his workload. Trip has also been overseeing our Peoria office operation and will continue in that role.

Change isn’t always easy, but Trip has made the transition seamless to our customers. He’s developed relationships with Al’s clients and has engaged a second generation of INB customer. Trip likes to remind us that he’s a Gen Xer, and he uses his age to INB’s advantage. He’s brought many younger customers to INB, but works well with clients of any age.

Peoria Branch Manager Pam Cain says she and Trip work well together to help customers, adding, “He is definitely energetic and always has a good story to tell.”

One of the things that make the people of the Peoria area happy to work with Trip is his commitment to the community. Trip has served as chairperson of the Peoria Chamber of Commerce’s Community Leadership School. He also was a committee member of Hult Center for Healthy Living Development and the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Development team. He has volunteered for the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Illinois and Junior Achievement of Central Illinois. He’s especially proud of the work he had done with Quest, a charter high school helping students prepare for college and careers. He has been recognized as a member of Peoria’s 40 Leaders Under 40 Class of 2013.

Trip recently cut back on community involvement so he could volunteer at his kids’ school and coach their soccer teams. Even after cutting back, he remains as board chair of the Neighborhood House of Peoria, treasurer of Goodwill of Central Illinois, and grant reviewer for the Heart of Illinois United Way.

Trip has an MBA from Webster University. He and his wife — a central Illinois native — have lived in the area for about 10 years now. His NMLS# is 896008.
