History

Inland Northwest Bank was founded in 1989 by a group of local business people who were unhappy with the fact that Spokane headquartered banks were getting gobbled up by big out-of-state banks. They felt strongly that being headquartered here enables a bank to be more responsive to the needs of the local community.

INB started with just one location in the Paulsen Center in downtown Spokane, Washington where the headquarters is still located today. In 1991 we established a holding company, now named Northwest Bancorporation, Inc., that trades over-the-counter under the trading symbol NBCT. We are a publicly held company and report our quarterly and annual results to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). You can review our recent SEC filings by going to our "Investor Relations" page on this site and choosing "SEC Filings." Many of our customers are also stockholders.

In 1992, INB opened a branch in the Spokane Valley and in 1993 a branch was opened in Airway Heights and INB was really off and running. Today we have 7 branches strategically located throughout Spokane County.

Also in 1995, INB became the first state chartered bank in the country to branch into another state when we opened a branch in Post Falls, Idaho and today we now have 4 branches throughout Kootenai County, Idaho.

In 1998 we purchased a mortgage company that was subsequently merged into the bank. Our mortgage department serves the home purchase and refinance needs of our bank customers, as well as the community at large. We are now one of the larger mortgage loan originators in the Inland Northwest market with as much as $75 million in home loans per year. In addition, the mortgage department works with home builders to finance the construction of new housing in and near our primary market area.

Total assets have grown from less than $4 million in 1989 to nearly $400 million today. We are primarily engaged in the business of gathering local deposits and extending loans within our immediate market area. While we offer a full complement of competitively priced personal loans, the large majority of our loans have historically been to small and medium sized businesses.

We believe we have one of the most attractive branch networks of any bank in the region and we plan to continue for many years to come to do what we have done well in the past: provide outstanding customer service and incomparable personal attention to businesses and consumers alike. We don't try to fit your needs into our list of products—we fit our products to your needs. We hope you'll give us a try as thousands have over our proud history.
